Teachers all over the world identify data literacy as one of the most important 21st century skills. Data literacy is much more than just reading graphs – it is also about the skill of interpreting data visualisations in new and unfamiliar presentations, assessing the soundness of data, and building up a bigger picture of how to work with data ethically, securely and confidently. This comprehensive, nine-year course (for ages 4 to 14) follows a spiral approach where students build confidence in working with data year-on-year. This includes reading and interpreting data, collecting data, analysing and interpreting data. It also extends to social and cultural issues such as inclusivity, privacy and data security, and ethics. Through real-world contexts and examples, students are equipped with the skills they need to solve problems and make reliable, data-informed decisions.
